Although our members often charter their cars to an individual or company, many offer travel opportunities to others. As individual car owners inform us of opportunities where space is available on their car(s), those travel opportunities will be posted here.

The actions of the members of AAPRCO, Inc. are those of independent contractors. AAPRCO, Inc. does not own nor operate cars and does not make any representation as to the services provided.

New York - Niagara Falls - New York
September 10 - 14, 2015

MOUNT VERNON is operating a trip from New York to Niagara Falls and return on behalf of a family group who are our friends. We have room for a small number of day riders for all/part of the journey northwest on Thursday September 10th and/or southeast on Monday September 14th. You can join us one way or roundtrip. This is your opportunity to visit the famous falls, or to continue your own personal journey north into Canada for a visit to nearby Toronto.

New York - Chicago - New York
September 16 - 22, 2015

MOUNT VERNON is operating a trip from New York to Chicago on The Cardinal, with 4 nights parked at Chicago, and returning from Chicago to New York on The Lake Shore Limited.

In order to offer lower dares, and to make some extra room on the car available during our long visit to Chicago, we are leaving our chef and car attendant at home, and our galley will be wide-open so that passengers may self-cater, or enjoy their meals in the Amtrak dining car. Join us onboard DEARING, a 1925 open platform office car, for AAPRCO's 2015 convention. The route of the Spirit of St. Louis Special from Chicago to the convention and return includes rare mileage off the Amtrak national system and exciting excursions in Cincinnati, Louisville and St. Louis. Los Angeles - Seattle - Los Angeles
September 29 - October 4, 2015

Join Private Car Service as we travel from Los Angeles by vintage railroad sleeping car for a trip to Seattle from September 29th through October 4th! Our railcar for this adventure is the SILVER RAPIDS, built by Budd in 1949 for the Pennsylvania Railroad to provide transcontinental service using the California Zephyr and the General. We will be traveling along the route of Amtrak's most popular train - the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Seattle and return.

Our trip will depart Los Angeles on the morning of September 29th and arrive into Seattle on the evening of September 30th. We will enjoy 2 days in Seattle. We will be using the railcar as our hotel space parked right downtown at the King Street Station. Plenty of great opportunities await for adventures in Seattle or nearby! Explore the city that hosted the 1962 World's Fair - complete with it's Alweg monorail system. Possible group activities include dinner at the Space Needle and a baseball game between the Seattle Mariners and the Oakland Athletics. But there are many great adventures to be had in Seattle beyond these! We will depart Seattle on Saturday, October 3rd and arrive into Los Angeles on Sunday, October 4th.

Prices - for a double bedroom - 5 available - (with an upper and lower berth) sleeping two with a private toilet annex - $2800 (for two people). For a roomette - 6 available - (a single bed with toilet in the room) - $1600. The car also has a shower and a small galley. A limited beverage service will be included during the trip. You are welcome to bring additional beverages to be enjoyed aboard the SILVER RAPIDS. Meals aboard the train are not included in the are, but will be available using the Amtrak dining car and lounge on the Coast Starlight. We will also have access to the Pacific Parlour car (if it is in the consist of our train).

Los Angeles - New Orleans - Los Angeles
February 12-19, 2016

Join the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad on another fun and relaxing private car charter.  Journey with us to New Orleans to celebrate Valentine’s Day aboard a fleet of restored private railcars from the streamlined era of rail passenger travel.  Our four-car consist will include a dome-observation, lounge and two 10 & 6 sleeping cars. 

We begin our 1,995 mile trip on Friday February 12th by boarding at Los Angeles Union Station at approximately 9:30pm for a 10:00pm departure behind Amtrak’s Sunset Limited.  Enjoy a few cocktails and some conversation before retiring for the evening as we leave the L.A. metro area heading east.

Arriving in the "Big Easy" on Sunday Evening February 14th you can now enjoy the time we have in New Orleans!  Visit the French Quarter, Audubon Zoo, National WWII Museum, Aquarium of the Americas, The Superdome, Harrah’s Casino and Jackson Square or take a Swamp Tour!  Attractions and restaurants are easy access from the Amtrak Station with street car service close to the front door.

With a Wednesday February 17th 9:00am departure from New Orleans and we are now heading west back to Los Angeles with an arrival at 5:35am on Friday February 19th.

Private cars for this charter will be; Santa Fe Barbershop-Bar-Lounge ACOMA, Santa Fe 10-6 Sleeper PALM LEAF, Pennsylvania Railroad Budd built 10&6 Sleeper SILVER RAPIDS and CB&Q Vista-Dome/Sleeper/Lounge/Observation SILVER SOLARIUM.  An all stainless steel consist!

We have Roomettes (sleeps 1 person with private sink in room) at $2,640/person and Double Bedrooms (sleeps 2 people with private toilet & sink in room) at $2,675/person based on double occupancy still available in the PALM LEAF and SILVER RAPIDS. These two cars have a shower/changing room plus restrooms at the end of the car.  All the Double Bedrooms are configured in traditional Pullman style with an upper and lower berth. 

Fares include meals enroute plus water, soft drinks, juices, snacks, beers and wines.  Feel free to bring other libations that you desire.  Lunch and dinner will be on your own during the layover in New Orleans.  We will be parked at the Amtrak Station in New Orleans and are permitted to stay on the cars during our three nights there.  If you desire to stay in a hotel in New Orleans, that will be at your cost.
