Join the Washington D.C. Chapter NRHS as it recreates a classic railroading experience—traveling overnight in a Pullman berth. This weekend package includes round trip travel to Boston, MA, with double bedroom accommodations (upper and lower berths) overnight aboard Dover Harbor as it traces the route of the Pennsylvania and New Haven Railroad’s Night Owl. We are pleased to announce our participation with the
famed Southern Pacific 4449 Daylight steam locomotive as they participate
in Train Festival 2009 in Owosso, MI.
We are adding our "Silver Fleet" --three private ex-California
Zephyr cars --sleeper "Silver Rapids", dome-diner "Silver
Lariat" and dome-sleeper-lounge-observation "Silver Solarium"
along with the former PRR sleeper-lounge "Colonial Crafts"
to the SP 4449 steam excursion train traveling from Portland to Minneapolis,
MN July 3-10 and returning October 13-20 from Minneapolis to Portland
via Stampede Pass.
You will be among a select group to have access to TWO domes and all
the lounge space of the four cars. As you probably know, the Silver
Lariat and Silver Solarium are two of the most popular and busy private
cars in Amtrak service. Now is your chance to again enjoy these two
cars running together with the Silver Rapids and Colonial Crafts. (This
special train is limited to 12 cars and we will have 4 of them reserved
exclusively for your use and enjoyment!)
We will have both Pullman service with overnight accommodations aboard

The Resort Northern Arrow
July 31 - August 6, 2009 (Tentative Dates)
Chicago – Durand, MI – Petoskey, MI roundtrip
We will be offering the Resort Northern Arrow, a recreation of days gone by when families traveled to the cool shores of Northern Lake Michigan to escape the heat of the city streets of Chicago and other Midwestern cities. Fathers would often commute on weekends.
Our private cars will be parked in Petoskey’s downtown tree-shaded park just across the street from the legendary Perry Hotel and next to the former Pennsylvania Railroad Station, now law offices. Tour includes a wide array of premium beverages and snacks plus meals prepared fresh by onboard chef and served by attentive waitstaff as per itinerary.
Side tours to Victorian Bayview, Pier Restaurant, Mackinaw Island, Victory Casino, Traverse City area wineries (with wine tasting) and the Music Museum are available. Petoskey is the town, where upon leaving, passengers say "I wished I lived here".
The tour departs Chicago, Friday, July 31 and returns to Chicago Thursday, August 6. Passengers coming from out-of-town may board our private cars July 30.
