We are planning an Amtrak special train, which will be named the "Kansas City Chief", one way from New Orleans, Louisiana to Kansas City, Missouri, operating primarily on BNSF. The special train will depart New Orleans on Sunday morning, October 16th. Our route that day will be New Orleans - Lafayette - Beaumont - Alvin - Galveston. On Monday, our route will be Galveston - Temple - Fort Worth. On Tuesday our route will be Fort Worth - Oklahoma City - Arkansas City - Newton. On Wednesday our route will be Newton - Emporia - Olathe - Holliday - Kansas City. We will arrive at Kansas City Union Station on Wednesday afternoon, October 19th. The BNSF maps of their Gulf Operating Division, Texas Operating Division and Kansas Operating Division may be of interest to you.

Our traditional convention activities will be conducted Thursday, October 20 thru Saturday, October 22. These include two car parties, technical seminars, the car owners meeting, the associates meeting, the annual meeting, off-site tours (Kansas City Southern headquarters, Harley Davidson factory, Mid-America Car shop, and BNSF Railway Topeka shop), vendor activities, the board of directors meeting and the annual banquet. The current schedule of convention events is available here. Keep in mind that it is subject to change. The Hyatt Regency Crown Center at 2345 McGee Street, a few blocks from Union Station, will be our convention hotel.

Cars will depart Kansas City beginning on Sunday, October 23, using any of Amtrak's four daily departures.

Our Travel Opportunities page will list advertisements from those individual private car owners who are offering accommodations on their car(s) for their trip to the convention.

The convention is open only to members of AAPRCO, their family and their personal guests. If you would like to join AAPRCO, please go to this page.

The AAPRCO Company Store has some convention related emblematic items for sale.

Please note there will be no opportunities for the general public to tour the cars while they are parked at Kansas City Union Station and other locations during the convention and the operation of the AAPRCO 2011 Kansas City Chief.
