We are pleased to announce that our fortieth annual convention will be held in Burlington, Vermont on Tuesday, September 19th through Thursday, September 21st, 2017.
In cooperation with Amtrak and the Vermont Rail System, our convention special train, The Green Mountain Flyer, will offer travel over scenic routes in The Empire State and The Green Mountain State on its journey from Albany-Rensselaer NY to Burlington VT and return. Our current plan has the train originating at Albany-Rensselaer NY on September 14th, and terminating there on September 22nd. Your convention committee is still working on evaluating the pros/cons of potential routing options for the convention special train en-route to Burlington and returning from Burlington.
Our traditional convention activities will be conducted in Burlington. The Burlington Hilton located at 60 Battery Street in downtown Burlington will be our convention hotel. The Green Mountain Flyer will be parked in the Vermont Rail System yard right next to Lake Champlain, a short distance from the hotel. Our activities will include car parties, technical seminars, vendor activities, the car owners meeting, the associate members meeting, the annual meeting, and the board of directors meeting.
While “shore excursions” have not been finalized, it is expected one day will be devoted to the Historic Shelburne Village complex overlooking Lake Champlain seven miles south of Burlington. We plan to arrange an evening ride on the Spirit of Ethan Allen boat on Lake Champlain. Your convention committee is still working on details of other activities at Burlington.
Please save the dates and make your plans to join us.
Check our AAPRCO Travel Opportunities web page for listings from those car owners who will be offering space onboard their car(s) for their trip to the convention.
We will continue to update this page when more information becomes available. The convention is open only to members of AAPRCO, their family and their personal guests. Please note there will be no opportunities for the general public to tour the cars while they are parked at Burlington VT and other locations during the convention and during the operation of the Green Mountain Flyer convention special train.
