    • Goin' to Kansas City …might take a train! by Kenny Rhoads. For the second year in a row, AAPRCO member Kenny Rhoads kept a journal of his adventures on and off the special train. Although his trip started in Tuscon, Arizona, we started Kenny’s convention coverage in New Orleans, where the Convention Special train originated. His 10-page exclusive story follows the route of the Kansas City Chief to Galveston, Fort Worth, Texas, and Newton, Kansas on the way to the convention in Kansas City, Missouri. The side trip to the BNSF car shops at Topeka gets coverage, too. Tons of photos and a route map are included.
    • How The Kansas City Chief Fixed The Flying Crow That Wouldn't Fly, and Mended The AAPRCO Eagle With A Broken Wing. by Stan Garner. Convention trains usually ply the rails to—and sometimes from—the yearly AAPRCO shindig. They’ve ranged from a weekend trip to an odyssey requiring a couple weeks’ travel. Never ever the same, they all share one commonality: a three-year planning period. Here’s the story behind the 2012 special train; as told by the ex-president of the association.

The last run of the Lotos Club is chronicled by owner Tilp during its final trip to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, whereupon the car was donated to the museum for static display inside. Fine photography by the author and friends highlights the trip.
    • ShopTALK photos and information about AAPRCO Trade Member shops' work on PVs. LANCASTER & CHESTER COMPANY update us on work done to Wisconsin, Pacific Sunset, Poplar Summit, Dover Harbor, Cannon Ball, and Tennessee.   • Pacific Railroad Society's Tehachapi Excursion: by Stan Garner. The PRS celebrated their 75th anniversary with a two-day excursion from Los Angeles to Bakersfield, California, and return on April 2011. Plenty of photos taken both on and off the train.
  • JT's Excellent Adventure: by John A. Thompson. A charter from New York City to Cincinnati, Ohio, via Chicago, and return on the Mount Vernon makes a good read, lots of large photos and juicy captions. This is quite helpful if you would like to plan your own charter on one of our member's cars!
  • ShopTALK photos and information about AAPRCO Trade Member shops work on PVs. LANCASTER & CHESTER RAILWAY's shops updates readers on the final placement of the Sunbeam in it's new home.
