Mechanical Liaison Officer's Report - Single Car Test Device (5/30/01)

Subject: Single Car Test Device (5/30/01)

DeWitt Chapple and Tom McOwen own a single car (passenger) test device that they are generously making available to other members of AAPRCO. Pittsburgh Air Brake Company (a Trade member of AAPRCO) will store the test device and maintain it in date. If you need to use it to test your UC, D-22, 26-C, or other passenger car brake system, or to complete a COT&S, or PC-1, or PC-2, then contact Bill Jubeck (pghairbrak@aol.com) at Pittsburgh Air Brake Company, 33B Sycamore Street, Carnegie, PA 15106-2042; phone 412-278-3600; fax 412-278-1833.

You are required to be a member of AAPRCO to lease this device. You should not call at the last minute - instead give Pittsburgh Air Brake Company at least a week's notice to allow for shipping. Pittsburgh Air Brake Company will bill you directly for shipping costs. Anticipated roundtrip shipping costs are in the $50 ballpark, depending upon distance. Ordinarily this is done by FedEx ground. The device will be insured for $2500, both ways, which you will cover. You may keep the device for a week.

Single car testers must be recalibrated every 92 days. To cover this cost, the rental charge will be $75 for a week (not including shipping time). Pittsburgh Air Brake Company will have an up-to-date roster of members and can contact Diane Elliott to verify membership status.
