Subject: Wheels - Rim Stamped (6/08/01)

Please refer to my prior reports on this subject, the last being 6/16/2000. Amtrak (George Binns) advises that no further extensions will be granted for the use of rim-stamped, straight-plate, tread-braked wheels, beyond the upcoming deadline of June 30, 2002.

They feel that 7 years of relief is long enough. Plan ahead accordingly.
